Andy Beal Helps BusinessWeek Define Online Reputation Management

May 11, 2008 – 1:45 pm
BusinessWeek takes a look at the growing demand for online reputation management and the experts providing reputation services. Radically Transparent co-author Andy Beal is featured throughout BusinessWeek's article. Most reputation services work by tracking what's written about a client on the Web, then doing search engine optimization (BusinessWeek.com, 9/10/07), promoting positive pages, and creating other sites that will push damaging references off the first pages of search results. The services are pitched as another tool companies can use in their PR and marketing efforts. It's still hard to say how companies are using reputation management services, but industry players say clients fall into two camps. Some want to understand and respond to customer complaints; others often just want negative posts to go away. "The majority of inquiries that I get are from people who are looking to do a cover-up," says Andy Beal, a marketing consultant and co-author of Radically Transparent: Monitoring and ...

We were thrilled when Mike Moran--best selling author of Search Engine Marketing Inc., and Do It Wrong Quickly--offered his advance praise for Radically Transparent. Now that he's got his hands on the final copy, he's even more excited about the book. Radically Transparent is one of those unusual books that can give you the executive summary of a big change in the world, explain how you know how big it is for you, tell you what you can do to take advantage of this new world, and illustrate those points with scores of stories from real businesses grappling with this sea change... ...Many good books get written each year—books that are important for some segment of marketers to read. This is one that every marketer should read. My advice is to read it now, before you need it, instead of after some crisis has befallen you. Thanks Mike!
